Your hiking expedition includes a visit to Volcanoes National Park Ruhengeri. This park is situated in the far Northwestern side of Rwanda and is accessible from Kigali within 2-3 hours’ drive. Other than Bisoke, Volcanoes NP also houses other Virunga Volcanoes like Karisimbi, Sabyinyo, Muhabura and Gahinga.
Volcanoes National Park Rwanda is one of Africa’s oldest parks and was officially recognized as a park in 1925. This is a significant habitat to diversity of fauna including the endangered mountain gorillas, spotted hyenas, giant forest hogs, bushbucks, golden monkeys, forest elephants, buffaloes, and over 200 species of birds. At Volcanoes NP, expect to engage in more than Bisoke hikes- the park is also a preferred destination for gorilla trekking, birding and golden monkey tracking.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up, travel to Musanze and hike through Bisoke, return to Kigali
Depart your hotel property in Kigali and transfer to Musanze for briefing. Meet the official at Kinigi and later, begin your 6 round volcano hike expedition with an experienced guide. The first 4 hours will be dedicated for your ascent to the summits of Bisoke Volcano and 2 for descending. Some level of fitness will be needed for you to have a complete round adventure on Mt. Bisoke.
When you get back to briefing point, meet the driver guide and you will be transferred back to Kigali. On arrival at Kigali, you will be dropped off either to the airport or hotel facility for relaxation. This marks the end of 1 day Bisoke hike Rwanda.
